In a recent TED talk, Author Daniel Pink takes on the myth that human beings are intrinsically selfish, exploring the hidden truths behind what really motivates us at home and in the workplace.

From Wikipedia: salon is a gathering of people under the roof of an inspiring host, held partly to amuse one another and partly to refine the taste and increase the knowledge of the participants through conversation. These gatherings often consciously followed Horace’s definition of the aims of poetry, “either to please or to educate.”

SPECIAL EVENT — The Evidence of Hope

Next Wednesday and Thursday we are welcoming a special guest to USD’s campus. Documentary filmmaker, Chad Amour, will be joining us to discuss his life and work, particularly his most recent project, The Evidence of Hope.

The Evidence Of Hope is an impressionistic portrait of the lives of three unique individuals a courageous woman in Honduras challenging the indignity within a city dump, a Filipino preacher confronting the inequity within a government, a police officer fighting the injustice within the corrupt Kenyan system as they define what it means to confront oppression through the pursuit of their divine calling, revealing hope and discovering what it is that we are all made for.

You will have two opportunities to interact with Chad when he is on campus.

Wednesday, Feb 12th @7pm at the Luther Center — Chad will join us for dinner, conversation, and worship here at the LC

Thursday, Feb 13th @ 7pm in Farber Hall (Old Main, USD) – We will host a public screening of the film and Chad will join us for a Q&A

I hope you are able to join us for one or both of these events.  See you there!
